GIVEAWAY

Guess what?? I have another giveaway coming SOON!!

Spray Painted Chandelier

Hey guys! In case you missed my last guest post, here it is!!

Ok, so I got this ugly chandelier from the DI for 5 whole bucks way back in January!
I know- it's cute, right??

I cleaned it up, got rid of the wires, and painted it a pretty blue color!
I was planning on hanging it in my home, but
when I saw the hook already outside... I couldn't help myself.
What do you think??

My front entry is still a work in progress, but
I'll be finished with it someday...soon, hopefully!
That wreath has seen better days... =)

I love having my vintage kitchen cart outside, and cute (vintage, of course) watering cans
help spruce it up!

Bunco Gift

I am excited for Bunco tonight!
Have you guys ever played it before?
Well, you should!
It's super fun.
Some groups do it differently, but I love how the girls here do it.
Instead of bringing money to add to one big gift, everyone brings a gift- and everyone
goes home with one!
We are all poor grad school students, so our gifts aren't elaborate.
Here is what I came up with...it was supposed to be Fall themed, so I hope it's good enough!

First, I got a basket from the Salvation Army... the best one they had.

Instead of white washing it - I "blue" washed it...

Then I filled it with scraps of scrapbook paper, which I ran through my shredder!

I added a cute print - find yours HERE

I found this cute mug, which I put Spiced Apple Cider in, and I just loved this cute journal- so I threw it in too!

Chalkboard Vinyl Calendar Tutorial

My friend Kassy has the most amazing calendar/message/magnetic center in her front entry hallway.
After seeing it, I just knew I had to have one!

My mom made this clock a few years ago...the clock mechanism stopped working, and she couldn't find a big enough one to fit, so she gave it to me!
I have been looking for the right size mechanism for over a year now...and the clock
just looks so sad up on our wall- broken!

I decided to re-purpose it  into our new calendar/message board!

I hacked away at the clock machine on the back...my mom heavy glued that beast on. Then I grabbed a random tool from our tool box and pried the numbers off...which was a lot easier said than done.

Sorry for the terrible pictures... it was late at night and I didn't realize the kiddos had played with my camera settings. =)

After getting all the numbers off, I decided to take the frame off and sand the back piece. Thankfully, I scored a nice hand sander for a few bucks at a garage sale last weekend!

I filled in the hole with wood filler, sanded like crazy, painted it a pretty blue, and reattached the frame. The picture doesn't do it justice...

I cut the chalkboard vinyl with my Silhouette SD, and eyeballed the placement.

I got some awesome Chalk Ink markers - so I made a holder for them out of a mason jar and pipe clamp.

I really want to add something else here, but not sure what... any ideas??

Pleated Neckline Tutorial

Hey guys! Jennie and I switched blogs for the day, so
when you are finished here, come see me!

Hello toasted coconut readers!
I am Jennie Moss and I am guest posting on
miss emily's blog today!
She is lovely & all sorts of creative-I am so happy
to be here! :)
Well I thought since Fall is here
we all need a little spice in our wardrobe
so I found an item in my closet
that needed some major love & attention...

this is a SIMPLE tutorial on SWEATER sprucing!
what you need to start:

then simply cut two inch & a half strips of wool

and start to pleat your strips & pin them...

I hand sewed it all, because my machine is hating me.
But it was pretty easy and fast, even by
hand sewing all of the pleat.
As you pleat the fabric and sew it to your sweater, you can
shape it around the neckline into
either a v or a half circle.

This is how my sweater turned out....

I hope you have a fun time repurposing
your sweaters & shirts!
Have a great fall
happy crafting.

Love,

Thanks Jennie! How CUTE is that??
Make sure you stop by Jennie's blog and say hello!

Pink Teacups and cupcakes

I know this adorable girl named Lauren... we started getting to know each other a little before I moved, which is so sad- cuz I think we would have been great friends!
(Not that we can't be now, but it just has to be a long-distance friendship...hehe)

She is going to school to be an event planner, which is
one of my (many) dream jobs!

She has tons of talent and the cutest BLOG.
Lauren doesn't know I'm writing this, but
I just wanted to give her a shout out
and share her blog with you guys!

Make sure you check it out (and follow her!!) and let her know I sent ya.

xoxo
