My friend Kassy has the most amazing calendar/message/magnetic center in her front entry hallway.
After seeing it, I just knew I had to have one!
My mom made this clock a few years ago...the clock mechanism stopped working, and she couldn't find a big enough one to fit, so she gave it to me!
I have been looking for the right size mechanism for over a year now...and the clock
just looks so sad up on our wall- broken!
I decided to re-purpose it into our new calendar/message board!
I hacked away at the clock machine on the back...my mom heavy glued that beast on. Then I grabbed a random tool from our tool box and pried the numbers off...which was a lot easier said than done.
Sorry for the terrible pictures... it was late at night and I didn't realize the kiddos had played with my camera settings. =)
After getting all the numbers off, I decided to take the frame off and sand the back piece. Thankfully, I scored a nice hand sander for a few bucks at a garage sale last weekend!
I filled in the hole with wood filler, sanded like crazy, painted it a pretty blue, and reattached the frame. The picture doesn't do it justice...
I cut the chalkboard vinyl with my Silhouette SD, and eyeballed the placement.
I got some awesome Chalk Ink markers - so I made a holder for them out of a mason jar and pipe clamp.
I really want to add something else here, but not sure what... any ideas??

ReplyDeleteLove this. Just one question, can you erase the chalkboard ink? I have never worked with it and wasn't sure about this.
