Thrift Store Shopping

I had some birthday money left over, so I decided to spend the morning in the thrift shops around town. FUN!

This hot pink suitcase caught my eye today...

When I saw the adorable polka dots inside, I squealed! How darn cute??

I LOVE that I found this...we had one growing up! My kids will love playing with it.

I found a bunch of old (1950s and 60s) Disney records, and while I don't have a record player- I just couldn't walk out without these! I have a few ideas of what to do with them...

Love Mary Poppins!!

And last, but not least- a great blouse pattern. Check out the red scalloped blouse!! Can't wait to make it.

Oh, how I love thrifting.

Baby Shower Invites

It's baby shower month for me -- I am planning a few! =)
I wanted to show you one of the invites I made, I love how they turned out.

I had to make 45 of them, so they were quite time consuming... since I had to cute each card out by hand (I traced the envelopes around the card-stock, cut them out, and then sewed each flag on).

Want to make your own? Just cut out a BUNCH of little triangles, and sew them on- in any pattern you'd like!

I have been super busy with this shower, I can't wait to show you the rest!

Nutella Brownies

 4 Ingredient Nutella Brownies

I just love Alice's Savory Sweet Life blog. Amazing.

Here is another recipe I tried out of hers:
  • 1/2 cup Nutella spread
  • 1 large egg
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a 12-cup mini muffin pan with paper or foil liners.
  2. Put the Nutella and egg in a medium bowl and whisk until smooth and well blended. Add the flour and whisk until blended.
  3. Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tins (about 3/4 full) and sprinkle with the chopped hazelnuts.
  4. Bake until a pick comes out with wet, gooey crumbs, 11 to 12 minutes. Set on a rack to cool completely. Serve immediately or cover and store at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Sun Roasted Tomato Feta Scones

I first found the recipe HERE
but I changed some ingredients since I didn't have them.

Makes 8 scones
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon garlic salt
4 Tbsp cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
3/4 cup heavy cream
1 egg slightly beaten
1 - 4 oz package feta cheese
½ cup sun roasted tomato tapenade
1 Tbsp chopped rosemary

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Place the flour, baking powder, garlic salt and butter in a food processor. Pulsate everything in 3-second intervals until the mixture resembles coarse meal. If doing this by hand, use 2 knives, a pastry blender or your fingers.
Transfer everything to a large bowl. Stir in heavy cream and egg, mixing the dough by hand until it comes together. Add feta cheese, roasted tomatoes, and rosemary. Gently mix the ingredients by hand until the savory ingredients are evenly distributed. On a floured surface, form a big dough ball. Flatten the dough into a 1 inch disk and cut it in 8 equal pieces. Bake for 15 minutes on a baking stone or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Remove scones from baking sheet and cool on a wire rack.

Necklace Holder

I found this sad looking frame at the DI awhile ago for a few dollars.
On Thursday I got an email asking me to participate in Friday's Farmer's Market-
so I decided to put the frame to good use!

I put one coat of paint on, and after it dried- I noticed the corners turned green/blue. Some weird reaction!
Well, i didn't have time to care or fix it- and I ended up liking it a lot!

I cut a piece of cardboard to fit the back, covered in in fabric, and stapled it to the back of the frame. For sake of time, I used tacks to hold my necklaces- but I will be changing them to cute drawer pulls.

The farmer's market was GREAT!
I got cleaned out -- so be on the lookout for MANY more things coming to my shop next week!

Jewelry Stand Makeover

About a million years ago I got this jewelry stand off
of Craig's List for $15.
I can FINALLY cross it off of my 'to-do' list today!

After sanding it, I painted it a light butter yellow.
After distressing parts,
I LOVE how it turned out.
The pictures don't do it justice!

(The photo right below is more the true color)

Do you like how I totally put the handles on upside down? Oops.
I'm much to lazy to change it.
